Jake's surgery

Here, Jake is recovering after surgery, and was finally allowed to eat after a long night fasting!

Jake's surgery went well. Of course, Mommy had to bring the camera along...gotta document this in the scrapbook! :) The doctor said it was really good that we did this...he was probably miserable...she said both of his ears had fluid under pressure...they were bulging.

All smiles this morning, sipping a tiny bit of water...all he was permitted. What a trouper!

Lastly...Jake's Surgery

Lastly, just wanted to let you all know in case you don't already, that Jake is having surgery tomorrow to have tubes put in his ears. He has been battling with really nasty (antibiotic-resistant), chronic ear infections since August, so we are ready for this! They make a small incision in the ear drum & slip a little flanged tube in the hole, which stays in his ear until it falls out on its own in 6-12 months. The tube allows air to pass through his ear so that fluid behind his ear drum can dry up & isn't just hanging out there, harboring bacteria. It's not uncommon for babies to have this issue, because their Eustachian tubes are so small, so the ear can't ventilate on its own like an adult ear can. The surgery itself takes about 3 minutes for the doctor to perform, but it takes a little longer to get Jake properly sedated & then to allow him to come back out of sedation. It is an outpatient surgery that requires only laughing gas - Jake will be sleeping while they do it. So, please say a little prayer for Jake that the surgery will go smoothly, he will recover quickly, and will respond well to the tubes in the coming days & months. We are hopeful that this will really help his health! We'll let you all know how it goes.

Peak-A-Boo, Silly Baby!

Jake's got quite the personality, including a good sense of humor. Lately, he thinks it's hilarious to play peek-a-boo. Last night, he tore off his bib during supper & was using it to hide...you can see he was giggling crazily the whole time! What a character!

Meeting Trevor

Here is Jake meeting my best friend's (Stephanie Pinkster) new baby, Trevor. Trevor is so little, he makes Jake look like a giant (quite a feat!).

Great Wolf Lodge

Jake went to Great Wolf Lodge with Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Amy, Uncle Walt, and Grandpa & Grandma Walters a couple weeks ago. He had fun in the lazy river, but wasn't sure what to make of the rest of the water park! It was nice to be where it was warm for a short spell, though!

Grandpa, Sorry it took so long, here is the picture you wanted of me & you. Love you! :) Jake

His adorable Christmas pj's...this is how it went for the most part, Jake "unwrapping" gifts...he was definitely more interested in mouthing them.
