New Routine

Thought you all would enjoy a quick update. We started our new routine (Mommy back to work and Jake starting daycare) on Tuesday. Here is a picture that his daycare emailed me on Tuesday morning to let me know he was having a good time...I love that place! :) The first day was definitely rough...probably the hardest thing I've ever done to leave him there Tuesday morning...I cried many times that morning! But, it got a little better as the day went on and I got involved & my mind was more occupied. I called to check on him & even stopped in a couple times when running between my office & my worksite (it is right between them), so that helped a lot. Jake did great too - they said he was happy & talking most of the day, and napped well. They even shared with me that he cried twice - once when hungry & once when tired - both times, his "problem" was quickly remedied. It made me feel good to know that they were comfortable sharing that with me, and that he only cried twice! He was definitely Mama's boy Tuesday night & yesterday when we stayed home for a mid-week reprieve though! :) This morning was 100% easier than Tuesday however...we'll get this figured out yet!

Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day!! We had a good time camping up north this weekend. Here are just a few pictures of Jake and his camping adventures this weekend. He was the best little camper!

This is just a random picture I took Thursday morning before leaving...I just wanted you all to see this adorable Hawaiian shirt I put him in. He wasn't too sure about it though...

Daddy & Jake in our new camper

Tuckered out...he did quite a bit of snoozing this weekend...camping is tough work!

Playing on his friend Owen's exersaucer...Jake loved it!

What a pitiful face!

And we're happy again...

With Mommy doing our bedtime routine at camp

Our beautiful family of 3!!!

Napping in the pack-n-play

Borrowing Owen's shades...too cool.

Hangin' out in the camp chair with Daddy

So much to look at...

Happy boy!

Snuggling with Mommy...we did lots of that, trying to get all the snuggles in that we could before starting our new routine tomorrow with Mommy going back to work & Jake starting daycare.

Part of the bedtime routine at camp is a bath to wash away the day's sunscreen...Jake is not a fan of baths in the camper bath tub, oddly enough, since he likes his baths at home...

Surprise Visit

We had a surprise visit from Uncle Joe today! We didn't know he was in the state, but it turns out that Grandma Kennedy brought him home with her for a few days after she attended his graduation for his Master's degree this past weekend in New York. We found out when Grandma pulled in the driveway for our planned lunch date...Uncle Joe was tagging along! Very fun surprise!!! :)

We have a variety of pictures today, but you might notice a bit of a theme. Jake is trying to learn a highly useful new skill...he's been trying to fit his fist in his mouth. We've been telling him that he could maybe use this skill when he's in college to make money...college kids love stupid human tricks at parties. :) He LOVES his hands lately...he is very interested in them...looking at them, grabbing things, "conducting" - as we like to call it (it looks like he's conducting a symphony at times)...and of course, eating them too. It's been hard to capture a smile this week, since he's constantly got his hands in his mouth. He even often spits out his "pipe" in favor of the hands! He doesn't seem interested in sucking his thumb though...just generally eating & sucking on his hands & arms...it's pretty funny.

Daycare Pictures!

Mommy & Jake visited daycare again on Friday...here are some pictures of Jake enjoying himself there, as well as a picture of his fingerpainting project from Wednesday. We had a fun weekend just relaxing together as a family!

"Talking" to the duck at daycare...one of his care providers, Courtney, was helping him

Wiped out after all that talking...so he took a nap in his crib at daycare!

Jake's fingerpainting project from Wednesday...a young Picasso!

All of babies' projects together

Jake was all smiles when Daddy got him out of bed Saturday morning

Playing in his Bumbo Saturday while Mommy & Daddy ate lunch

Mommy & Jake!

There's a story behind this sweater. Some of you might remember the Easter sweater Jake didn't get to wear, because it was so huge on him at Easter? This is it...it finally fits. Mommy learned that this brand of clothing happens to run an entire size bigger than all the rest. Lesson learned. The other part of the story is that Daddy really hates this sweater...he thinks it's a sissy sweater because of all the pastel stripes. Needless to say, Daddy made a lot of jokes about Jake wearing this sweater today. :)

And a close-up of Jake in his adorable sweater...all the girls love it anyway! Jake was very alert this morning before church.

Sleeping in Daddy's arms after hanging out in the garage with him all afternoon. Apparently all that mechanical-talk tired him out. Or, he was just bored... You decide. :)

I Love Mommy

Jake's got lots of new outfits, since he is still growing out of his 0-3 month clothes and into his new, never-been-worn 3-6 month clothes. Here is one new shirt I found this morning. How true this is...and I love it! :)

Such a cutie!

Silly face!

A Busy Week!

We are having a busy week at our house! Jake & Mommy spent a few more hours at daycare yesterday. While we were there, Jake napped in the crib that will be his, and he did an art project with the other babies...fingerpainting! It sounds wierd, but I think he enjoyed it. I didn't remember to take my camera, unfortunately, so we don't have any pictures of it...he was pretty cute though! Mommy is spending time gathering things Jake will need for daycare, filling out paperwork for daycare, and getting clothes out for her return to work after Memorial Day...it's coming so fast! Anyway, here are some pictures of Jake keeping busy playing while Mommy does all the things that need doing...

Playing in his gym

More gym time

A little smile for you all...

A BIG smile!

Looking very intently at Mommy..."What is that big thing she's holding? It just keeps flashing!"

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms who watch Jake's blog! We had a special first Mother's Day at my house yesterday. I spent the day with my 2 favorite people, Jake & his Daddy! :)

Here are some pictures from this weekend and today. Today was a busy day for Jake. The biggest thing was that Jake & I spent a couple hours at his daycare, which he will be going to when I return to work in 2 weeks. Although I am absolutely dreading leaving him, this place is wonderful. I knew it when we reserved his "slot" shortly after finding out we were pregnant with Jake last summer, but being there today with the girls that will be taking care of him just reconfirmed it. They are WONDERFUL, as is the center! Jake & I will be visiting several more times before beginning in a couple weeks, in order to let us both get used to it, and to give us an opportunity to get to know the girls (Courtney and Nichole), and them an opportunity to get to know us. I'm not lying to myself, or hiding it from anyone...this "adjustment" period is SO much more for me than him! :)

Also, a couple pictures of the bathroom are at the bottom of this post, for those who are monitoring the progress. :)

What a peanut!

All smiles playing in his Bumbo...he's filling it out more & can sit up in it a little better

More smiles

So serious...

I painted the first coat of color this weekend above the wainscoting...this picture doesn't show it very well due to lighting though

This one's a little better...the color is a shade of taupe with very slight mauve undertones
